This week we took three guests for a sunset cruise to the beautiful Lerins Islands. Their day on Motor Yacht Bettina started when they were driven to the Jetee Albert Edouard, just a few feet from our passerelle in a gleaming black executive Mercedes Minibus from Rivera Come True. Sasha from Riviera Comes true had already let us know of the guests liking for Japanese Whisky, so we had specially sourced two of Japans finest single malts ahead of time whilst we shopped for fresh ingredients in the fantastic Marche Forville in Cannes for the guests dinner.
When everyone was comfortable we set of into the afternoon sun and cruised across the Bay of Cannes whilst a selection of freshly prepared on board canapés were served, including; feta and goats cheese spheres in a pistachio and bacon crumb, colourful beetroot stacks with balsam, little smoked salmon and caviar blinis and prosciutto and basil roses served with gorgonzola and melon.
We cruised around Île Sainte-Marguerite, where Sasha used his multi-lingual skills to describe the island; famous for its fortress prison, in which the so-called Man in the Iron Mask was held in the 17th century.
We anchored in between the islands, an area known as the Plateau du Milieu, a truly unexpected and amazing lagoon with turquoise colours which offer a magnificent sight to all its visitors. Our guests took the opportunity to use Bettina as their very own floating pontoon to swim from and enjoy the crystal blue waters.
Deciding to take in some more of the beautiful Islands, we cruised around to the southern side of Île Saint-Honorat and then anchored again in a small empty bay for more swimming and snorkelling in the shadow of the Abbaye de Lerins, which afforded beautiful views of the Forteresse de Saint-Honorat; which looked magnificent in the evening setting sun as dinner was served on our top deck.
The guests were served a starter of foie gras parfait crostini with micro-herbs, pickled diced cornichons and a balsamic reduction, followed by Argentinian filet steak with baby hassleback and baby boiled potatoes and asparagus, served with a bernaise sauce. For dessert they enjoyed raspberry and citron tartlets with ice-cream, then as the sun set they finished with a great cheese board, with a selection of fresh breads, figs and grapes.
We cruised back to Cannes for about 10pm, a truly great day.
Yesterday we had Neil Munn and his extended family on board for a fabulous family Day Cruise to the Lerins Islands. Neil had been on board with BBH (Bartle Bogle Hegarty) a few weeks before during the Cannes Lions Festival and said he enjoyed his time on board so much that he wanted to share some the experience with bis family.
We cruised out to the beautiful Lerins Islands where the whole family joined in the ‘High Board Diving Act’ from Bettina’s top deck before sitting down to a great leisurely lunch on the aft deck.
